Here have a mid summer’s eve. Complete with frogs (we’ve had a lot of rain) and birds. It’s a beautiful night.

So, today is all about the bracelets in our books and bracelets give away.

These beauties are made by the amazing maria-of-all-trades. I wish you could hold them and touch them and try them on, because the photos can’t do them justice. They are intricate and colorful and so very lovely. All my books are atwitter with excitement over their matching baubles.

You can enter the give away at http://bit.ly/1oOWeYo if you’re interested. Just remember, it ends June 21, and there are tons of ways to get extra entries.

Thanks to everyone who has taken some interest in my bracelets! I love doing beaded kumihimo and have had a great time taking some abstract ideas and turning them into something wearable.

The “book” bracelet is one of my favorites (followed by an "ocean" bracelet I made for an aunt). I did design in an actual sentence into the book bracelet above. It’s one of my favorite quotes from Pema Chodron’s book Living Beautifully: with Uncertainty and Change and is attributed to Shantideva. “I, too, am a brief and passing thing.” Sometimes I think we all need a reminder that nothing is forever including us, so it’s important to live fully. So, I hope whoever wins this bracelet does just that: enjoy life and live it fully.

Thanks again to updownbindery for letting me tag along in her amazing book giveaway!

If you haven’t yet, please consider joining in our little (yet epic) book & bracelet giveaway. There’s still time!

maria-of-all-trades:

First, I just listed these in my Etsy shop! Prices range from $18-$22. I also take custom order requests. You can contact me here or via my shop.

Secondly, I’d like to welcome all my new followers who have come aboard through the giveaway with updownbindery. I really appreciate the interest and hope even if you don’t win, you might find something that speaks to you here. If you ever have an idea for a bracelet theme, please feel free to share with me. Ask box is always open! I will also be branching out into some other fandoms for some cool looking bracelets you can wear anytime! If you have fandom requests, I will take those too.

Thanks again for sticking around!
Maria

UpDown Press & Bindery is partnering with the lovely maria-of-all-trades for an epic Books and Bracelets give away! We’re offering three prizes (details below), and each is a book paired with a matching bracelet. Just imagine the possibilities—get fancy and jot down your thoughts, or keep one and give the other as a gift. We don’t care, so long as it makes you happy.

So, go ahead and enter here: http://bit.ly/1oOWeYo

Of course, we’d love your help in spreading the word, too, through likes and reblogs—just don’t annoy your followers. We’re all for fun and free stuff, so long as everybody’s having a good time. :)

Here are the basics:

The give away starts now and will run through 11:59 p.m. on June 21. We’re running the give away through Rafflecopter, and you can get tons of entries for different things.

First prize: A 4.5” x 5.75” journal featuring hand-sewn headbands and a hand-embroidered arrow on the cover. It’s companion bracelet is worked in complementary blue and yellow beads. This particular type of bracelet is called a “book bracelet,” which is awesome.

Second prize: A 5.5” x 7.5” journal in sunny yellow silk and blue batik ivy. The companion bracelet is worked in shades of purple and green and features a gorgeous feather charm.

Third Prize: A set of three small soft-cover pamphlet notebooks in bright red, yellow, and green. The companion bracelet is worked in matching colors.

You can see the full terms and conditions over at Rafflecopter. But don’t worry, they’re still pretty basic.

Hey! Just wanted to share this with you guys. maria-of-all-trades is the account I set up to highlight the bracelets I’ve been making and selling, and I’ve teamed up with updownbindery for this giveaway. So, if you like books and you like bling, take a chance! See the rules above and win some awesome hand crafted swag!

Here’s my new business venture (sorry for the people who already saw this on my fandom account!!). I’ll definitely be adding more over the next month, so please follow maria-of-all-trades for all the latest additions to my shop. Thanks!!

My favorite season: Fetch season! Can you tell who the real retriever is?

My three favorite things about Spring: apple blossoms on my trees, bluets in the back field, and fetch with CaseyJones.

Back at my childhood stomping ground. When I was a teenager and the fort was not nearly as safe as it is now, we used to sneak in at night and play flashlight tag and/or party in the old tunnels. Either activity posed a degree of danger which made it a regular thing for us.

The view is beautiful but the wireless sucks.

Sunrise is one of my favorite times to photograph my yard, but I have to admit to loving the light in the spring & summer evenings quite a bit too. What I love most about this picture though is the complete lack of snow. Spring has finally settled in and I could not be more grateful.

My favorite day of the year: leave the door open for the dogs to come & go as they please day. No bugs, no snow, and just warm enough to not freeze my ass off while I work in the room where the door is. I live for this day.
